Hurricane Dorian Forces Flight Cancellations at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport
SARASOTA — Elite Airways is canceling Sunday flights into Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in front of Hurricane Dorian's anticipated Florida landfall. But airport CEO Rick Piccolo advises those with local departures and arrivals to monitor their own airline schedules.
"Each airline makes its own decision about when or if they want to cancel their flights," Piccolo said Thursday morning. "People need to pay attention to that."

Piccolo says SRQ staff and tenants will have their first storm logistics meeting on Friday, but contingencies are all based on Dorian's behavior.
"It's a complete hurricane plan we go through whenever these things happen," he said. "We make sure everything's put away, that there's not loose items on the ramp, we tie down some of the jet bridges, that type of thing. But it'll all be depending on where the storm track goes each day."
Piccolo also wanted to clarify any ambiguities about SRQ's function: "Our airport is not a shelter."
