NATA Statement on the Biden Administration Advancing the Future of Sustainable Fuels in American Aviation

Sept. 9, 2021

Washington, DC, September 9, 2021 – The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) issued the following statement in response to the Biden Administration’s announcement on the future of sustainable fuels in American aviation.

“The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) applauds the Biden Administration’s efforts to advance the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in business aviation, and we look forward to partnering with the White House and federal agencies as they work on multiple fronts to scale production and strengthen industry collaboration in achieving environmental goals,” said NATA President and CEO Timothy Obitts. “Business aviation has long been a proponent of SAF adoption as a crucial element in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and the coordination between the administration, agencies, and industry is critical to more expeditiously achieve our shared mission for a cleaner future.”

NATA is a founding member of the Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Developed by aviation organizations across the globe, the coalition was created, first, to address a “knowledge gap” on the availability and safety of SAF and, second, to advance the proliferation of alternative jet fuels at all the logical touchpoints: the manufacturers, the ground handlers and the operators, at the regional, national, and international levels.
