The crew of Air Alsie Flight 6771, a Dassault Falcon 7X jet, reported being illuminated by a blue laser around 5 p.m., according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration. There were no injuries.

Authorities were investigating a report of a laser being pointed at a business jet as the plane arrived Tuesday at Teterboro Airport.

The crew of Air Alsie Flight 6771, a Dassault Falcon 7X jet, reported being illuminated by a blue laser around 5 p.m., according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration. There were no injuries.

There was no impact on airport operations and Port Authority police were notified, said Scott Ladd, a Port Authority spokesman.

Aiming a laser at planes can seriously interfere with a pilot’s vision and is against federal law. There were 9,723 laser strike reports from pilots to the FAA last year, the highest ever on record with the agency, according to a federal database.

“When aimed at an aircraft from the ground, the powerful beam of light from a handheld laser can travel more than a mile and illuminate a cockpit, disorienting and temporarily blinding pilots,” the FBI said in a 2014 report. “Those who have been subject to such attacks have described them as the equivalent of a camera flash going off in a pitch black car at night.”
