Vacation on a Plane? You Can in This Grounded Boeing 747 That’s Gone Viral on TIKTOK

July 13, 2022

We’ve seen cool vacation rentals pop up all over the globe these days — from this “Stranger Things” themed Airbnb in New Mexico, to this “Spice World” bus in England — but this destination provides a unique first-class experience.

This Boeing 747 has been transformed into a hostel at an airport in Stockholm, Sweden, and is getting a lot of attention after a video tour of the luxurious short-term rental went viral on TikTok.

This means that you can comfortably stay in the aircraft without having to turn your chairs and tray tables back in the upright position.

“This is one plane you’ll never have any trouble sleeping on,” The Points Guy, a travel website, says in their video as they tour Jumbo Stay Hotel at the airport ARN, Stockholm-Arlanda. “Initially built for Singapore airlines in 1976, the aircraft was turned into a hotel of sorts back in 2008 with almost every part of it converted accommodation.”

Features in some of the packages include:

  • Dining at the nose of the aircraft

  • “Buffet in the retro dining space”

  • Cockpit suite with a queen size bed

  • “Bathroom with a wet room style shower”

There are multiple room options to choose from, according to the plane’s website.

“Our different room categories can accommodate one to three adults in comfort as well as a quad dormitory bed option,” the website says. “A few rooms have a private WC and shower, otherwise access to separate, shared shower and toilet facilities. We also offer a luxury suite in the converted cockpit with a panoramic view of the airport.”

Prices range from $44 to $118 per night depending on which package you choose, the Points Guy says.
