Aviation Market Trending Up on GlobalAir.com

Globalair.com saw immediate effects of the emergence of the COVID-19 market response with a 12 percent dip in the number of inquiries submitted daily for pre-owned aircraft sales, an indicator from one segment of Globalair.com’s website. In the past 8 days, however, the opposite has occurred. Inquiries are now trending on a positive scale of 10 percent over the last week.

The number of visitors overall to Globalair.com have also changed drastically. On Mar. 14th, total active users had dropped to 7,995 in a single day. As of Apr. 7th, GlobalAir.com’s overall average daily users has been surpassed, with a new high of 11,648.  Analytics also show that in the past 7 days there have been on average one aircraft reported sold and removed from the website.

Other aviation businesses continue to stay steady in the maintenance sector of the aviation industry. Some MRO facilities are reporting a decline in discretionary spending, but an overall steady state of the maintenance market.

To encourage a steady flow of business, some companies, such as Duncan Aviation, have included an aircraft disinfectant system in main locations and satellite facilities. Many companies within the aviation industry are finding alternative means of revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic.

One market that has been hit increasingly hard is the fuel sector. Many FBOs are working on limited hours and staff, providing a hurdle for their normally outstanding customer service and attentiveness.

There is a silver lining amidst the pandemic: the price of jet fuel continues to drop. While global stock markets are dropping, the price of commodities is following suit, including the cost of jet fuel. GlobalAir.com reports indicate an 8 percent drop in the average cost of JetA fuel in the United States since the beginning of 2020. For 100LL, a drop of 3 percent has been reported.
