Aerostar S.A – the leading Romanian aerospace company – has now completed 270 ‘C’ and ‘D’ checks on Boeing 737 Classic and New Generation aircraft during the 10 years since it started work on commercial aircraft MRO for the type.
After receiving its EASA Part 145 approval in 2003, the first two Boeing 737s arrived at Aerostar in December 2004 to mark the start of a change of direction for the company and bringing Aerostar into the world’s commercial aircraft MRO community.
This has since been followed by approvals for the Airbus A320 family and the BAe 146/Avro RJ. Well over 300 heavy maintenance checks have now been carried out on all aircraft types by Aerostar.
To ensure total customer satisfaction, Aerostar provides office accommodation for airline representatives to monitor the execution and quality of work.
Boeing 737 operators who have taken advantage of Aerostar’s quality, on-time delivery and competitive pricing include JetAirFly of Belgium and TUIFly Nordic of Sweden – both airlines of the TUI Group, as well as Swiftair and Alba Star of Spain. Outside Europe, customers include Royal Air Maroc, as well as Pegasus Airlines, Correndon Airlines and Tailwind Airlines from Turkey. Many of these airlines have become long-term repeat customers for Aerostar.
In the past year Aerostar has also carried out installations of the new Split Scimitar Winglets on the Boeing 737NG for several customers – one of the first independent MRO companies to carry out this work.
Aerostar also performs component MRO: batteries, wheels and brakes, oxygen bottles, doors & hatches, control surfaces, hydraulic components, structural repairs, including composites and seats, as well as interior refurbishment and aircraft cosmetics.
As a regional centre of excellence, AEROSTAR now has two hangars with over 10,000m2 of space and six-seven aircraft bays. The company has invested in state-of-the-art tooling and equipment, as well as manpower, training according to EASA regulations, modern management and supervision of activities.
