TIMCO has been performing scheduled maintenance on the KC-10 air-to-air refueling tanker fleet since January 2010 as a member of the CLS team led by Northrop Grumman.

GREENSBORO, N.C. – January 24, 2013 – TIMCO Aviation Services Inc. (TIMCO) announced today that it has completed aircraft maintenance work on the 50th U.S. Air Force (USAF) KC-10 refueling tanker under the KC-10 Extender Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) program. TIMCO has been performing scheduled maintenance on the KC-10 air-to-air refueling tanker fleet since January 2010 as a member of the CLS team led by Northrop Grumman.

TIMCO’s role on the CLS program has included heavy aircraft maintenance activities, inspections and repairs, replacement of components and tests to insure aircraft airworthiness of the KC-10 aircraft, generally provided at TIMCO’s Greensboro, North Carolina MRO facilities. The work is very similar to heavy maintenance or “check” work TIMCO performs for its commercial aircraft customers. TIMCO has also provided field service support for the KC-10 aircraft when required to help support the CLS program.

Reaching the 50-aircraft delivery milestone, TIMCO has performed work on most of the 59 KC-10 aircraft in the USAF fleet. The KC-10 aircraft is part of the USAF Air Mobility Command arsenal and has most recently supported anti-terrorist and humanitarian relief operations around the globe.

“It is an honor to be a part of a team charged with such an important role in insuring the safety and readiness of the USAF fleet,” said Kevin Carter, TIMCO’s chief executive officer. He added, “I am especially proud of our employees’ continuing efforts to apply commercial best practices on the CLS program, delivering value through reduced time in the hangar and quality through increased aircraft reliability.”

Chris Jones, Corporate Vice President and President Northrop Grumman Technical Services, commented, “We have been very impressed with TIMCO’s performance on the KC-10 fleet since forming our partnership in 2009. The quality of the work performed is impressive and consistent, and satisfaction with each delivery is regularly communicated by our important customer, the Air Force.”

Northrop Grumman’s other partners include AAR CORP, Wood Dale, Illinois; Chromalloy Gas Turbine LLC, San Antonio, Texas; and MTU Maintenance, Richmond, British Colombia.
