Proud to Be a Part of the Aviation Family

June 26, 2019
This marks the 30th anniversary of AMT and the 40th anniversary of my start with the company.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of my being part of the company that owns Aircraft Maintenance Technology. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of AMT. Both worthy of celebration.

I am proud to have been a member of the AMT staff that cared about the industry it served. And proud to have worked with some of the leaders of the industry: Bill O’Brien, John Goglia, Tom Hendershot, and Nick Sergi, just to name a few.

The development of AMT’s Next Gen Award also made me proud of the next generation, the passion for the industry, and the shared mission of integrity and safety that will continue to be carried on. AMT has a long history of representing the maintenance technician and this award exemplifies that through recognition of the people achieving great things and the great things that are possible to be achieved in the aircraft maintenance industry.

I started my publishing career working on a magazine that covered the off-highway equipment market, which also holds a special place in my heart. But aviation was more like an extended family with relationships that continued to develop over time and when re-united at a tradeshow, resulted in big smiles and hugs.

While my background started with a degree in English and journalism, my goal on AMT was to help keep the readers informed and to continue the tradition of AMT as a respected resource to the industry. Like today’s aircraft technicians, my toolbox has been a computer, along with a magazine, a website, and fellow staff dedicated to serving the aviation industry.

Thanks to all the editors, industry experts, and PR contacts who helped me learn more about aviation and aircraft maintenance and strengthen my ability to communicate through AMT and AviationPros.com. This issue will be my last official one as I am retiring, making room for the next generation.

The next generation of AMT includes Group Publisher Missy Zingsheim, Editor Jennifer Wilberschied, Assistant Editor Walker Jaroch, and Assistant Editor  __. Ron Donner will continue to share his knowledge of the industry as he has for more than 10 years. So Keep Flying and Keep Reading!
