Goodyear releases updated tire care & maintenance manual
Goodyear’s popular Tire Care & Maintenance Manual has been updated with the latest information to help aircraft owners and other individuals responsible for tire maintenance to get the optimum performance from their bias or radial aircraft tires. It contains information designed not only to teach how to properly operate and maintain aircraft tires but also to demonstrate why these techniques and procedures are necessary. The new edition features a more modern look and feel, as well as “Warnings and Cautions” that are displayed more prominently throughout the manual. Lufthansa Technik to provide maintenance and component services for Camair-Co
The new Cameroon based Camair-Co airlines, which starts operation by March 28, 2011, and Lufthansa Technik have signed a contract regarding line maintenance and component services for Camair-Co’s B737 NG and B767 aircraft. Within the two-year line maintenance contract Lufthansa Technik intends to hire and instruct up to 10 local employees who will take over the line maintenance services from Lufthansa Technik Maintenance International staff who initially will provide the maintenance work at Camair-Co’s homebase in Douala/Cameroon. In the next 10 years Camair-Co will be provided with Lufthansa Technik´s comprehensive Total Component Support TCS® for its fleet of four aircraft. Under the agreement Lufthansa Technik’s experts will take care of all aspects of supplying Camair-Co with components for the airline’s daily operations, from access to the pool of components, repair and overhaul of the units removed from the aircraft on to engineering and troubleshooting support. Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities of components will take place at Lufthansa Technik’s component shops in Frankfurt and Hamburg in Germany. A home base will be placed at Camair-Co’s Douala airport facilities. A worldwide pool access is also part of the agreement.
AFI KLM E&M completes AMG integration

TIMCO produces its first aircraft passenger seats in NC
TIMCO Aerosystems, part of TIMCO Aviation Services, announced that it has successfully passed a major milestone in its planned expansion of its Brice Seating division by producing its first FeatherWeight™ 3500 aircraft seats at its facilities in North Carolina. The first groups of seats off the new assembly line are destined for global airline customers in Asia and the Middle East. With a modular assembly and 25 percent lighter weight than other standard economy seats, the seats can save operators significantly on operations and fuel costs, while still providing passengers with comfort through state-of-the-art materials and design. The new production line was developed using proven “lean” manufacturing techniques that cut waste and allow for faster, more efficient throughput. They build upon recent innovations and industry best practices implemented at existing operations.

Technoavia purchases GE’s H80 engines for Rysachok aircraft
Technoavia, a Russian-based aircraft manufacturer, signed a 10-year sales and cooperation agreement with GE Aviation for the purchase of H80 engines. The engine agreement is for the newly designed Rysachok aircraft, a twin-engine, 10-seat general aviation aircraft, which will primarily be used by Russia’s Civil Aviation State Pilot Schools. Technoavia signed firm engine orders for 30 aircraft and has options for another 30 aircraft. The agreement between Technoavia and GE also includes collaboration on engine certification, engine installation, and development of service and support for GE products in Russia. Technoavia plans to complete GE H80-powered Rysachok aircraft certification by the end of 2011. The first flight of the Rysachok aicraft took place in December 2010 with GE’s M601 engines.
Technoavia’s Rysachok will be a multipurpose aircraft used as utility, commuter, cargo, taxi, medical transportation and more. The Rysachok aircraft will be built at a production plant in Samara, Russia, with initial manufacturing capacity of up to 12 aircraft per year. Scientific Commercial Firm (SCF) Technoavia LLC, located in Moscow, Russia, specializes in the design of small aircraft and modernization of existing aircraft.
