At Least 6 Dead After Russian Fighter Jet Crashes in Yeysk

Moscow — At least six people have died after a Russian Su-34 fighter jet crashed over a residential area in the Russian city of Yeysk on the coast of the Sea of Azov.

According to regional Minister of Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Sergey Shtrikov, 25 people were injured in the crash, Russian news agency TASS reported. Six people are missing.

One of the plane's two engines caught fire during take-off, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence. The two pilots parachuted out of the aircraft, the ministry said.

Videos and photos appeared to show an explosion close to a multi-storey residential building in the city and a large fire.
