APiJET has named seasoned tech-sector executive Stephen Elop its new CEO. In addition to his background in leadership roles at technology companies such as Microsoft, Nokia and Telstra, Elop brings a passion for aviation and has been a pilot for 30 years.

“APiJET expanded Aviation Partners’ ability to bring cost and operational efficiencies to our customers by taking our winglets digital,” says Joe Clark, founder of Aviation Partners, Inc. “Stephen is a great asset and will not only advance our forward momentum, but the aviation industry as a whole.”

Elop will lead a highly experienced team with bench strength in aerospace technology and software development. His focus will be accelerating the commercial aviation industry’s transformative digital revolution.

“APiJET is leading the way in bringing today’s data-driven digital revolution to the aviation industry,” says Elop, “and it represents a confluence of two of my greatest passions – disruptive technology and aviation.”

New technologies developed at APiJET continue to change the commercial aviation data landscape through practical machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, which are directly relevant to customers’ needs. APiJET’s Smart Aircraft System product suite includes airplane health management (AHM), flight tracking and turnaround management. APiJET is also adding NASA TASAR technology to its solutions suite as Digital Winglets.

Tom Gibbons, who had served as interim CEO, continues on as APiJET’s chief operating officer as well as president of Aviation Partners 2, which builds on the benefits of blended and split-scimitar winglets to bring new efficiency-enhancing technology to airlines.

“Through our Smart Aircraft System, whatever an airline needs – AHM, flight tracking, turnaround management, Digital Winglets – is available at the flip of a switch,” says Gibbons. “Once installed, customers can scale up services without any extra downtime.”
