Pratt & Whitney Signs Repair Agreement with South African Airways Technical

P&W will perform JT9D-7R4G2 repair work at SAAT's Johannesburg facility

Manufacturer and designer of aircraft engines Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX), and South African Airways Technical (SAAT) announced on Tuesday the signing of an agreement to perform JT9D-7R4G2 repair work at SAAT's Johannesburg facility.

Pratt & Whitney will also work with SAAT to expand the facility's aftermarket services in the future. Under the agreement, financial details of which were not available, Pratt & Whitney will provide SAAT with training and tools to position SAAT to work on newer generation engine technologies. South African Airways Technical is a full-service maintenance, repair and overhaul organization in the African continent. Fully Federal Aviation Administration-certified since the early 1990s, SAAT serves an increasing number of local, regional and international airlines.
