General Aviation's Contribution to U.S. Economy Remains Strong

A new study confirms what many already knew–that general aviation remains a shining star in an already bustling U.S. economy. The impact on the economy is highlighted in a new study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and six other general aviation associations announced the results of the study at a Washington, D.C., press conference on Feb. 19. The study determined that general aviation supports a total 1,179,200 jobs and supplies $246.8 billion in total economic output in the U.S.

“General aviation continues to be a positive contributor to our nation’s economy and benefits thousands of communities,” said Mark Baker, AOPA president, and CEO. “We must also continue working together to inspire the next generation of pilots and aircraft technicians and recognize this uniquely American industry and its exceptional impact on our country,” Baker continued.
