Elon Musk Lashes Out at Creator of Account Tracking His Private Plane

Dec. 15, 2022

It’s been a turbulent ride for a Twitter account that tracked Elon Musk’s private jet around the globe.

The account was suspended, restored and taken down again Wednesday, with the eccentric billionaire eventually tweeting: “Any account doxxing real-time location info of anyone will be suspended, as it is a physical safety violation. This includes posting links to sites with real-time location info.

“Posting locations someone traveled to on a slightly delayed basis isn’t a safety problem, so is ok,” he added.

Musk also promised legal action against @ElonJet creator Jack Sweeney, insinuating a serious allegation.

“Last night, car carrying lil X in LA was followed by crazy stalker (thinking it was me), who later blocked car from moving & climbed onto hood,” Musk tweeted, an apparent reference to his unusually named child X Æ A-Xii.

“Legal action is being taken against Sweeney & organizations who supported harm to my family.”

Sweeney denied the alleged incident had anything to do with his account, according to BBC.

The @ElonJet account was a hit among people who dislike Musk, but when he took over Twitter, he promised not to quash it.

“My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk,” Musk tweeted on Nov. 6.

The account was suspended, then reactivated before then going blank again toward the end of Wednesday night.

Prior to the last move, Sweeney voiced some complaints.

“Elon gave me no warning,” he wrote on another social media platform, Mastodon. “Plus he suspended all of my accounts, half of which track aircraft (NASA aircraft, experimental aircraft, weather, Air Force etc), not people, including my personal.”
