Luxury Home Listed in Fort Worth Has Own Plane Hangar so You Can ‘Live Where You Play’

Nov. 9, 2021

An insanely unique property has landed on the real estate market in Fort Worth, Texas. The fancy home built right above an airplane hangar can be yours — for $699,000.

The hangar is located at Hicks Airfield, which has numerous private airplane hangers and areas for plane storage, Realtor.com said.

While the airport, with its own 3,700 foot runway, itself is impressive, it’s the cozy home above a private hangar that catches the eye.

“It’s an airplane hangar, and it has an elevator that goes to a house — that really does look like a real house,” Elyse Guthrie, the listing agent with Keller Williams Frisco Stars, told Realtor.com.

That’s right, a private elevator – one that leads up to the 3,092 square-foot living space above the hangar area. In addition to the two bedrooms (with a loft area that can be used as a third bedroom), the space also has 3.5-plus bathrooms, stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen and windows that overlook the hangar.

“It’s very open, and people who have come to look at it have said they are surprised it feels like a home,” Guthrie said to Realtor.

Hicks Airfield is located close to the original site of the former Hicks Field, which “trained pilots for World War I,” according to the Texas State Historical Association.

The association reports “many Americans who enlisted in the Canadian military before the United States entered the war were assigned to this field.”

The Hicks Airfield that stands today was built in 1985.
