Oct. 9, 2020

PLYMOUTH – Two people suffered minor injuries when a small airplane flipped over while landing at Plymouth Municipal Airport Thursday afternoon. Windy conditions were prevalent at the time of the crash and may have contributed to the accident.

"The aircraft was landing on Runway 24 with two people on board," said Airport Manager Tom Maher. "There was a gust of wind and the plane flipped over. The pilot and passenger suffered minor injuries."

A Piper Cub, the Plymouth County Fire Patrol plane, was damaged in the crash. It was checking the area for brush fires prior to landing. The aircraft is currently locked up in a hangar at the airport while the Federal Aviation Administration investigates the cause of the accident.

Names of the two individuals were not released. Though injuries were minor, both were transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth as a precaution. The Plymouth Fire Department responded to the crash.

Plymouth Municipal Airport is located on South Meadow Road near the town line with Carver.
