April 28--Moyer Aviation will be flying full circle when owner Vern Moyer and his wife, Jean, relocate the 30-year-old business from Braden Airpark in Forks Township near Easton back to the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport in Mount Pocono for a May 10 opening.

"We expect a big response when we open our flight school there and expect to get very much involved in the air tour business," Moyer said.

The business includes aircraft sales and charter flights to resorts from Maine to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Moyer said Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard off Cape Cod are popular summer destinations for his business. There also will be business flights to Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., and Boston, among other locations, and he said he expects a "big response."

Moyer Aviation also has established itself as an aircraft maintenance specialist on most general aviation aircraft, which will be relocated to the Poconos. It is authorized as a Cessna and Lycoming service center handling warranty work with specialty trained personnel.

Moyer originally operated a business in Mount Pocono from 1981 to 2000, and opened a second location from 1996 to 2000. Moyer Aviation then moved all operations to Easton in 2000, but Moyer said he could not renew an expiring lease because the property owner has been considering selling it.

Moyer had come into the area once a year with some of his planes to participate in the Fly In/Drive In Breakfast fundraising event at Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport for the Mount Pocono Rotary. This year's event takes place on May 26.

"I was talking to the people in Mount Pocono and they were anxious to have us come back," Moyer said. "There were a lot of improvements since we left 12 years ago. The area population has grown and the facility they're leasing to us is very nice."

Moyer said nearly all of his 15 employees are expected to remain with the company.
