New Delhi: India's national carrier Air India Ltd (AI) is likely to sell off all 27 medium haul aircraft Boeing 787 Dreamliner at premium to reduce the size of its staggering debt amount.

Earlier, AI was planning to induct Dreamliner into its fleet but now the civil aviation ministry is discussing a proposal to sell the aircrafts at higher premium in comparison to the cost during 2005.

AI would make a sale proceed of Rs 72 billion which would be around 33% of its total debts of Rs 200 billion. After delay by three years, Boeing would be delivering 7 aircrafts this year.

AI booked order for Boeing 787 Dreamliner in 2005 when the cost of one aircraft was Rs 7.03 billion but now the price of each plane has gone up by 37% to Rs 9.70 billion.

Even if the civil aviation ministry decides to sell the fleet of seven Dreamliners to be delivered by Boeing this year then also it would be making a fortune of Rs 18 billion.
