Nov. 15, 2017

Xovis has won a competitive tender to equip boarding pass and security checkpoints with Xovis 3D sensors and software solutions at London Luton Airport (LLA). Measuring KPIs such as queue lengths, waiting and process times, London Luton Airport will use the data gathered by the Xovis system to streamline planning and processes.

Kimberly Kennedy, senior manager passenger services says, “We are investing £150 million to transform our airport and need the most accurate and reliable technology to gather quality data. We are confident that Xovis will be a valuable asset to help streamline our processes, improve the passenger experience and increase satisfaction.”

“It is always great to welcome a new customer, in particular as the result of a competitive tender. LLA is the latest Xovis airport in the extremely fast-growing London region. We are proud and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the airport’s promising future and to live up to our promise to provide the most reliable technology for people flow monitoring in the market”, states Andreas Fähndrich, managing director Xovis Airports.

Xovis 3D sensors to count and track passengers anonymously are mounted on the ceiling. Passengers are recognised individually even if they are only 18 cm/ 7 in. away from each other. Featuring automated queue detection, the software connects an unlimited number of sensors and visualises the measured KPIs on real-time dashboards. LLA will deploy 24 Xovis 3D sensors.

Along with the five other London airports Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, City and Southend London Luton Airport is part of the busiest airport system in the world by passenger numbers, handling more than 160 million passengers every year.
