Toledo Express Airport Celebrates American Airlines' Inaugural Flight to Charlotte
On Aug. 22, Toledo Express Airport (TOL) celebrates American Airlines’ inaugural flight to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). American Airlines will offer two flights per day on 50-seat regional jets with departures from TOL at 7:00 a.m. and 1:26 p.m., and arrivals to TOL at 1:01 p.m. and 11:43 p.m. This new air service is anticipated to increase total passenger traffic at the airport by as much as 30 percent, and represents a 66 percent increase in American Airlines’ capacity in the Toledo market. The new air service will also provide an economic impact of $15.4 million annually on the local economy according to a recent study conducted by the Center for Regional Development at Bowling Green State University.
“Today’s historic inaugural flight provides Toledo area travelers with connectivity to American Airlines’ second largest hub, and to a multitude of worldwide destinations,” said Paul Toth, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. “This flight represents a significant commitment to the Toledo market by American Airlines and demonstrates the continued growth of the Toledo economy.”
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the second largest hub in the American Airlines network and the third largest airline hub in the world, with more than 650 daily departures to over 150 destinations in 24 countries. A multitude of new domestic and international destinations will now be accessible from Toledo as a result of this service, including Paris, Dublin, Rome and 22 destinations in the Caribbean.
Additionally, starting today and ending December 31, 2017, travelers who fly nonstop to CLT as their final destination or connect to an international destination through CLT or Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) from TOL on American Airlines are eligible to receive free parking at TOL for the duration of their trip.
