Munich — Regular operations at Munich Airport will be suspended on Sunday and Monday due to widespread strikes over pay in Germany's transport sector.
Both passenger and cargo operations will be affected, the airport said on Thursday.
Passengers who have planned a flight to or from Munich on these two days were advised to contact their airline.
There were 737 take-offs and landings planned at Munich Airport on Sunday and 772 on Monday.
The strike is expected to affect around 200,000 passengers.
Airport boss Jost Lammers said that the work stoppage represents an "unprecedented escalation and is excessive and completely disproportionate."
The shut-down of the Munich hub "creates immense economic damage, not to mention the damage to the image of Germany as a business location," he said.
Germany's busiest airport, Frankfurt Airport, has cancelled all regular air traffic on Monday.
The trade unions EVG and Verdi on Thursday announced the joint industrial action, which comes after numerous previous strikes that have hit all parts of the German economy in recent months.
Almost all German airports, waterways and ports will also be affected.
