Syracuse, N.Y. — A JetBlue Airways flight from Boston to San Francisco was forced to make an emergency landing in Syracuse Monday night after experiencing engine trouble.

The Airbus A321 jet left Boston’s Logan Airport with 108 passengers at 10:46 p.m. and diverted to Syracuse Hancock International Airport after reporting a problem with its right engine.

Hancock’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting crews staged at predetermined points on the airfield to speed any needed response, the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority said.

The Moyers Corners, Mattydale, North Syracuse, Hinsdale and Lyncourt fire departments and several ambulance services were also called out to stand by at their stations or stage near the airport in case they were needed, according to 911 dispatch reports.

The twin-engine jet, a longer version of the A320, landed safely at 11:49 p.m. and taxied to an available gate, where its passengers were offloaded, according to the airport authority. Airport operations were not impacted, it said.
