FACC Is a New Member of the Aerospace Industry Association SPACE

Dec. 17, 2018
By contributing its expertise, FACC will support the goals of SPACE and make an active contribution to further developing the supply chain in terms of quality and efficiency.

FACC, one of the world’s leading aerospace companies specializing in the design, development and production of advanced aircraft components and systems, joined SPACE Deutschland e.V. as a full member in November 2018. As a technology partner of all major manufacturers, FACC develops solutions for the mobility of tomorrow together with its customers and suppliers. By contributing its expertise, FACC will support the goals of SPACE and make an active contribution to further developing the supply chain in terms of quality and efficiency.

The objective of SPACE is to continuously and sustainably strengthen the industrial performance of the German aerospace industry and its supply chain. All major players in the European aerospace industry, from the OEMs Airbus and Dassault and the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) to important suppliers such as Rockwell, Safran, Thales and, more recently, also FACC, are members of the industry association. "The performance of our suppliers in the SME sector is a critical success factor for FACC AG," emphasizes Andreas Ockel, COO of FACC, regarding his decision to become a member. "SPACE offers us the opportunity to boost the competitiveness of the supply chain through targeted improvement projects in a joint, coordinated approach on the part of the major European aerospace companies. We are delighted to contribute to this industry-wide initiative and help improve production processes across the entire value chain.”

As a key technology partner in the global aerospace industry, FACC has in-depth knowledge of the structure of the supply chain and will in future collaborate with SPACE in order to prepare the downstream supply chain of the aerospace industry for the more stringent requirements in terms of delivery performance and quality. Rudolf Leitner, Executive Vice President of FACC, adds: "The supply industry is undergoing structural change due to growth. Small and medium-sized enterprises are not fully prepared for this structural change and the associated challenges of production ramp-ups. By becoming part of the industry association SPACE, we are able to contribute our comprehensive expertise to support the SMEs in the supply chain and preserve their know-how in the downstream value creation stages."

About the SPACE association

Faced with the sharp rise in global demand for civil aircraft and the associated significant increases in production, the main aerospace prime contractors of the European civil aerospace industry founded the European industry association "SPACE™” (Supply Chain Progress Towards Aeronautical Community Excellence) in June 2007 in order to increase the competitiveness, stability and agility of the European supply chain along all value creation stages and thus prepare it for new challenges and the required structural change. To this end, experienced SPACE experts will contribute their know-how to improvement projects for the benefit of the company on the basis of preliminary assessments.
