Signature Flight Support joins Women in Aviation International chapters and corporate members globally for an outreach event aimed at inspiring the next generation of women in aviation. More than 300 guests are expected to attend.

As a dedicated corporate member of Women Aviation International (WAI), Signature Flight Support is proud to announce sponsorship of South Jersey’s first ‘Girls in Aviation Day’—an event dedicated to addressing the aviation workforce shortage by introducing young women to careers in STEM and aviation.

The event will take place at Flying W Airport in Medford, New Jersey from 11:00am to 3:30pm on Saturday, October 13, 2018 with more than 300 young women and their chaperones expected to attend and enjoy aircraft displays, STEM and aviation activities and keynote speakers. Attendees serving in Girl Scouts of USA will also have the opportunity to earn the new Girl Scout Aviation Girl Fun Patch.

“Promoting careers in STEM, especially among women, is crucial to the health and viability of the aviation industry,” said Mark Johnstone, Group Chief Executive of BBA Aviation and CEO of Signature Flight Support. “At Signature, we pride ourselves on helping make aviation attainable for all, which is why we’re proud to be a part of this event and look forward to introducing the young women attending to the joys of a career in aviation in a fun and supportive atmosphere.”

Miss New Jersey 2018, Jaime Gialloreto, is set to attend this special Girls in Aviation Day. Over the last few weeks, and through the coordination of Influential Drones based out of South Jersey Regional Airport, Jaime has logged both single and multi-engine time. Her introduction to flight training at the age of 19 brings her scope as the top female role model in the State of New Jersey to help empower more young women to engage in STEM and aviation! Jaime will join Lyndse Costabile as a keynote speaker at the event. She also received drone instruction and will continue more flight training, as she is excited to engage more girls and women in aviation.

“The program is free for girls and their parents, guardians and chaperones,” shared Lyndse Costabile, President and CEO at FunD Av Consulting who is the event’s keynote speaker and a global STEM advocate. “As a community, as aviation professionals, it’s out duty to come together, serve as key role models to girls showing how our industry transforms our world. No young woman should walk this world without role models, mentors and a flight path.”

Girls in Aviation Day, in a strong effort to honor and pay tribute to those war-time heroes who were true pioneers to aviation, welcome Dr. Eugene Richardson, Tuskegee Airman, who trained for combat in both the P-40 and P-47 aircraft starting in February 1944. After his military career, Dr. Richardson spent 35 years in higher education, with a focus on teaching math and science. Through the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Dr. Richardson is thrilled to participate in this event sharing his stories and signing autographs.

Girls ages five to 18 are encouraged to attend. Additional information including logistics and registration information can be found by visiting GiadFlyingW.Eventbrite.com

As a corporate host, Signature Flight Support is joined by other industry organizations, including Mathnasium, the Federal Aviation Administration, Civil Air Patrol, Jet Professionals/Jet Aviation, EAA Chapter 1348, the National Business Aviation Association, Windwalker Aero Club, American Airlines, Influential Drones, Freeflight Aviation, and more!
