Miami, Florida, USA, Wednesday, 12th September 2018 - The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) is to work closely with AMACARGA, the Mexican Association of Freight Forwarders, in order to grow the Association’s presence in Latin America and support the air cargo community throughout the region.
As part of the partnership, the two organizations will cooperate on their signature events including TIACA’s Air Cargo Forums 2018 and 2020, as well as explore joint training and networking initiatives.
AMACARGA will send a delegation to the 2018 ACF this October in Toronto, Canada, to promote trade links and the airfreight industry in Mexico, whilst also looking to have a key presence at the 2020 event, being held in Miami, Florida, USA.
“Mexico is a very important country which has seen rapid economic growth in recent years, and we are keen to forge closer links with the region to help promote and represent its expanding air cargo community,” said Vladimir Zubkov, TIACA Secretary General.
“We believe closer collaboration will help exporters and importers in the region find new markets and will encourage the development of new airfreight links both within Latin America and between the rest of the world.”
The Association is keen to build its presence in Latin America as part of its increased focus on areas which are outside the major airfreight markets, aiming to support the growth of airfreight and unify global standards throughout the world.
TIACA already partners with other Latin American organizations such as the Buenos Aires, Argentina-based Americas Alliance (AA), Bogotá, Colombia-headquartered Federation of National Associations of Cargo Agents and International Logistical Operators of Latin America and the Caribbean (ALACAT), and Santiago, Chile-based logistics provider AGUNSA – all of whom are participating in the ACF 2018.
AGUNSA has also been appointed as TIACA’s sales agent for Latin America, to encourage companies in the region to attend and exhibit at TIACA’s events and to grow membership.
AMACARGA was established more than 30 years ago and now has almost 300 members throughout Mexico.

Mexican air freight traffic is growing faster than average at +9.5 percent in the year to May 2018 compared with +5.3 percent global average growth, and both parties believe there is a lot of potential throughout the region to expand airfreight services and develop new markets for exports.
The focus on Latin America will be emphasized at TIACA’s 2020 Air Cargo Forum, co-located with both Multimodal and Supply Chain Americas in Miami, USA.
Miami International Airport (MIA) is recognized as the world’s largest gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, handling 83 percent of all air imports and 79 percent of all exports to/from the region.
TIACA’s 29th Air Cargo Forum & Exhibition takes place in Toronto, Canada from 16th to 18th October at the Metro Toronto Convention Center.
