Duncan Aviation Awarded DAS Authorization for Lincoln, NB, Facility
Duncan Aviation's full-service facility in Lincoln, Nebraska, was recently awarded DAS (Designated Alteration Station) authorization by the FAA. The DAS authorization allows the facility to internally approve STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates) on behalf of the FAA and significantly reduce the time required to complete new STCs. Duncan Aviation's facility in Battle Creek, Michigan, has been a DAS facility for several years.
Duncan Aviation is a long-time industry leader for avionics modifications and upgrades. The DAS authorization reduces dependency on the FAA. For customers receiving major avionics modifications and upgrades at the facility, the required downtime is significantly reduced.
"The DAS authorization comes at a perfect time for us because the Glass Box Project is in full swing," says John Slieter, Duncan Aviation V.P. of Completions and Modifications Sales. "The Glass Box Projects are heavily reliant on engineering and STCs and the DAS authorization will help streamline these and others in need of new STCs."
"In addition to the benefit this authorization brings to our customers, the DAS authorization is a public statement of the FAA's confidence in Duncan Aviation's engineers and technicians as well as the company's certification and installation processes," says Dan Buzz, Duncan Aviation V.P. of Completions and Modifications Production. "We appreciate the privilege of operating two facilities with this FAA endorsement."
The DAS authorization is one component of Duncan Aviation's Glass Box Project, a focused plan to offer technology modernization that will enable operation of current aircraft well into the 21st century. This plan reduces downtime and risk through thorough preplanning with customers, the FAA, avionics, and airframe OEMs and its in-house engineering team. The Glass Box Project is an industry leader in AMLCD (Active matrix Liquid Crystal Display) system installations.
