Northeast Helicopter Pilots to Participate in Aviation Safety Management Course in September
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to continue to improve helicopter safety and operational efficiency nationwide, the Alexandria, Virginia-based Helicopter Association International (HAI) with 1,350-member organizations in more than 73 nations is bringing its Professional Education Series to the New Jersey area in September. One of its most popular programs will be presented at the Hanover Marriott Hotel in Whippany, NJ, September 28 & 29 from 8 am to 5pm. "Training and education are critical to safe helicopter operations, as well as to meeting the challenges of remaining profitable amid rising costs," said HAI President Matthew Zuccaro. "Our job is to ensure that we provide our members and other helicopter operators with the most comprehensive training programs available. That is the goal of HAI's Professional Education Series."
The Safety Management Course is a two-day course structured especially for helicopter pilots. It provides participants university-level instruction in the essential skills needed to develop, implement and manage an organizational safety program and conforms to the guidelines of the FAA's Operator's FlightSafety Handbook.
The course is taught by Michael J. Alvarado, a commercial helicopter pilot and retired U.S. Army Aviator. He is an expert in aviation safety and human factor accident prevention. He is a member of the faculty of the University of San Francisco and taught Human Factors and Safety Management in the Aviation Safety Program at USC.
The course is directed toward Safety officers/managers who are responsible for planning, directing, or managing an aviation safety program as well as supervisors and senior managers who are required to supervise an accident prevention/risk management program as well as anyone who is interested in enhancing their safety education and/or safety programs.
