Frontier Quits L.A.- San Francisco Route
Frontier Airlines is pulling its relatively new service between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a route the carrier once hoped would help it diversify outside of Denver.
Frontier will end flights between the cities on July 10, slightly more than a year after it started the route. The Denver-based airline attributed the decision to higher costs to operate at Los Angeles International Airport and increased competition from other low-cost carriers.
Frontier said demand fell short of expectations. Competition also kept fares lower than Frontier expected.
It marks the second failed attempt by Frontier to offer flights from Los Angeles to other U.S. cities without routing passengers through Denver International Airport.
