Helsinki Airport Strike Causes Cancellations
March 6, 2017
Finnair had to cancel a number of flights following a strike staged by ground crew and security personnel.
According to YLE News, the airline cancelled five flights Sunday and another 10 Monday, even though the carrier is not a party to the ongoing labor dispute. However, necessary ground handling services are expected to be limited or unavailable.
The labor dispute between the Finnish Aviation Labour Union (IAU) and the Association of Service Sector Employers Palta, which began Friday, concerns the wages and benefits of Airpro employees. According to the YLE report, industrial action to support the case will begin again early Monday morning.
