SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – September 1, 2016 – StandardAero’s Houston MRO facility has completed its first Future Air Navigation System (FANS) Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and Automated Dependent Surveillance System- Broadcast (ADS-B) Out installation on a Dassault Falcon 50EX aircraft equipped with a Pro Line 21 integrated cockpit system.  The work was completed in three weeks, in conjunction with a 4A+ airframe inspection that also included system upgrades for synthetic vision, Gogo Axxess Iridium and a Display Interface Unit (DIU) supporting FANS.

“These very complex installations are critical for our operators to comply with future mandates, while modernizing and optimizing their aircraft assets,” said Melissa Maddox, Vice President & General Manager of StandardAero’s Houston MRO facility.  “Our ability to provide a holistic service approach with required airframe maintenance inspections yielded a greater level of overall efficiency and less aircraft downtime for this long-term customer.”

Completed on August 3, this was the first such system installation at StandardAero’s Houston facility.  The Houston facility has a long history of avionics installations to include WAAS/LPV, Gogo, ATG2000, 4000 and 5000 with UTC5000 and Thrane and Thrane internet systems, FMS upgrades, Falcon EASy II and cabin entertainment system upgrades.  The company also provides similar services from its Springfield, IL, Augusta, GA and Los Angeles locations.

The new system provides improved safety, increased reliability, reduced weight and lower cost of ownership, in addition to better communications across the North Atlantic and more desirable aircraft routing.

Earlier this year, StandardAero’s Houston MRO facility completed its first Rockwell Collins TTR-4100 TCAS 7.1 Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Falcon 50 series and Falcon 900 series aircraft.  In addition to a wide variety of avionics offerings, StandardAero also provides Falcon 50 and Falcon 900 series operators with OEM-authorized airframe inspections, completions, paint application as well as full engine maintenance, repair and overhaul.

StandardAero is factory authorized by the majority of avionics manufacturers and provides in-house engineering design, system integration and installation capabilities along with an Organizational Design Authority (ODA) authorization.
