Direct User Access Terminal Service (DUATS II) Award

The FAA awarded the DUATS II contracts to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Lockheed Martin (LM) to provide operational internet-based automated pre-flight services.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the DUATS II contracts to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Lockheed Martin (LM) to provide operational internet-based automated pre-flight services. The period of performance for the resulting contracts will be one (1) one-year base period and four (4) one-year options.
 
Technological advancements have led a vast majority of today’s pilots to utilize automated flight planning and briefing tools.  Overall, pilots find Internet-based pre-flight services are fast and easy to use.  Pilots can take advantage of this readily available, customizable service (flight planning and weather briefing services) from our DUATS II service providers to enhance their ability to conduct a safe flight.
 
These DUATS II services include graphics that can be tailored for a pilot’s route of flight and provide assistance with planning during adverse weather conditions.  In addition, pilots will find functions for VFR plan activation and closures, along with alerting services for adverse conditions.   Plain language and interpretation tools are also available to help describe weather conditions.
