AMI Aviation Adds TCAS II to its Garmin® G950™ Beech 1900D Modernization Program
SANFORD, FL (January 14, 2015) – AMI Aviation Services, LLC (www.amiaviation.com) is now offering optional TCAS II capability in its Garmin G950 System upgrade for the Beechcraft 1900D. AMI’s parent company, AeroMech Incorporated, issued the amended supplemental type certification (STC) via its FAA Organizational Designation Authorization (ODA), a highly select appointment that allows proven companies to self-issue FAA STCs with minimal FAA involvement. In addition to TCAS II, AeroMech also added a fuel totalizer function as well as options for a Garmin Radar Altimeter (GRA™ 5500), access to Iridium on-demand global weather information and text/voice communications (GSR 56), and removal of the second standby battery for additional cost and weight savings.
“Beech 1900D customers requiring TCAS II to operate, particularly large fleet operators in Africa and Europe, now have a viable go-forward solution to replace obsolete and end of life cockpit displays and avionics with an extremely cost effective, fully warranted, all glass solution familiar to today’s pilots,” said Dave Doucette, President of AMI Aviation. “As an added benefit, the upgrade saves approximately 250 pounds that now can be used for an extra passenger, more fuel, or cargo. I would like to thank our partners, SEARCA, Garmin, and AeroMech, for working with AMI to bring this solution to market.”
AMI Aviation Services, LLC will complete the G950 upgrade at its Orlando Sanford International Airport facility as well as provide the STC to qualified Garmin dealers worldwide, including our knowledgeable STC partner SEARCA in Bogotá, Colombia, as part of a complete FAA PMA kit designed to minimize downtime. This upgrade removes the end-of-life factory installed EFIS 84 system, legacy navigation and communication radios, as well as other analog instrumentation, and replaces it with a modern, proven, and affordable fully integrated three-display Garmin G950 System with all new shelves and wiring. The G950 System, similar to the G1000® System but without Garmin autopilot integration, significantly reduces maintenance costs and provides a completely new level of situational awareness, enhanced capabilities, adaptability to new technology, and increased dispatch reliability.
