NBAA-Backed Workforce Legislation Reintroduced in Congress

May 20, 2021

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) commended congressional leaders for reintroducing the Promoting Service In Transportation Act, further recognizing that transportation industries like business aviation are a critical piece of America’s economic comeback.

The bill was reintroduced by House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Rick Larsen (D-2-WA), Rep. Don Young (R-AK) and Rep. Angie Craig (D-2-MN).

Transportation has proven to be one of the country’s most essential assets, ensuring that medical supply lines remained open during the battle against COVID-19 and giving U.S. businesses a critical boost as they get back to full operations.

Industries vital to this effort, such as the general aviation, trucking and maritime sectors, have voiced a need for forward-thinking efforts to build the transportation workforce of the future. H.R. 3310 recognizes these industries’ importance by authorizing the Department of Transportation to develop a series of targeted broadcast, digital and print public service announcements to attract a new, diverse and inclusive generation of transportation workers.

“On behalf of NBAA and the broader transportation community, we’re grateful to Chairman Larsen and Reps. Young and Craig for re-introducing this important legislation, which will help build a brighter, more diverse and inclusive future for the transportation sector,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.

“Our country’s unparalleled ability to safely, quickly and efficiently move people and goods is one of our greatest national advantages,” said Bolen. “NBAA members should respond to our upcoming call to action and make their voices heard in advocating for H.R. 3310, which is critical to attracting the next generation of transportation workers.”

NBAA is dedicated to bolstering the business aviation workforce of today and developing and diversifying the next generation of industry leaders. Find out more about NBAA’s Workforce initiatives.
