AMFA National Executive Council (NEC) is still accepting applications for the 2016 AMFA Scholarship.

January 27, 2016 – The AMFA National Executive Council (NEC) is still accepting applications for the 2016 AMFA Scholarship. We are excited to further note that we have added an additional scholarship of $2500, bringing our total to two scholarships in 2016. Previous scholarships have been awarded to students of Tulsa Technology Center, Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, and most recently, our 2015 selectee was Kyle Johnson from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

“Assisting in the education of the next generation of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) is one of AMFA’s ambitions,” said Louie Key, AMFA National Director. “We are delighted to be offering this opportunity as costs have risen to obtain a FAA Airframe & Powerplant license.”

Those who apply must be currently enrolled in a school or university to gain their Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license. They must be a US Citizen and will need to submit a 500-word essay expressing why they chose aircraft maintenance as a career. Applications and further information can be found on the AMFA National website at www.amfanational.org.

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association was established in 1962 as a craft focused union that represents AMTs and related employees and advocates for the craft. The motto of the Association is “safety in the air begins with quality maintenance on the ground.” AMFA currently represents AMTs and related employees at Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines.
