FLL Welcome Sign Arrives this Week

June 6, 2019

Thursday evening construction crews will begin the two-week process of installing our new airport sign at the entryway to Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The new signage will have a vertical FLL, the airport’s Federal Aviation Administration's official designator, along with the logo for Broward County, the operator of the airport.

The dramatic makeover involves the use of a crane and the temporary closure of the Cell Phone Waiting Area for one hour each night of the weekday activity. Beginning, Thursday, June 6, at 11 PM until 12 AM, guests will be asked to use our short-term parking area in the Palm Garage while the crane is positioned to lift portions of the new sign into place.

Additionally, lower level access to our parking garages will be adjusted from 12 midnight until 3:30 AM beginning Thursday evening, June 6, 2019. The work will continue on Friday evening until 3:30 AM on Saturday. The activity will then be suspended until Monday, June 10, when the same schedule resumes weekdays only through Thursday, June 20.

Motorists attempting to access the parking garages from Perimeter Road from 12 AM through 3:30 AM on the specified days will be redirected with signage and guided by airport workers to an alternate garage entrance. Rental car returns will also be handled through a different entrance on the west side of the Rental Car Center during these hours. Airport workers will be on-site to direct anyone returning a rental car at this time.
