The Salt Lake City Department of Airports has named Melyssa Trnavskis as Director, Airport Design & Construction Management. In this role, she will be responsible for a professional staff and team of consultants engaged in the design and construction of facilities and infrastructure associated with the Airport’s capital project program for the system of airports: Salt Lake City Airport (SLC); South Valley Regional (U42); and Tooele Valley Airport (TVY). She will begin his position on June 20, 2022.

With more than 25 years of progressive airport planning and engineering experience, Trnavskis most recently was the Aviation Project Manager for T-O Engineers in Utah. In that position, she was responsible for project management and design/construction oversight for FAA-funded airfield projects. Previously, she was Director of Engineering for the Calgary Airport Authority where she led a team of nine in designing various airfield capital and pavement maintenance projects.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the SLCDA at such an exciting time in its history,” said Trnavskis. “SLC is in the middle of a significant terminal expansion program that will secure its role as a world class hub. Through its master planning efforts, SLCDA has identified other needs at SLC and its two general aviation airports. I look forward to working with my team and other leaders in ensuring the strategic vision and goals of each master plan are carried out.”

Trnavskis earned her bachelor’s degree in Aviation Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Central Florida. She went on to receive a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California. She is also a registered Professional Engineer.
