Airports Council International - Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) announces that Belo Horizonte International Airport has received the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) program certification, given to ACI member airports of all sizes worldwide, that adopt the health protocols proposed by the ACI Business Restart and Recover guidelines and are aligned with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART).

Belo Horizonte International Airport, an ACI member for 6 years, after going through a thorough evaluation process, presented evidence that it complies with the sanitary measures established by ACI and ICAO providing a safe experience for all passengers, visitors and the airport community in general. The terminal's certification is valid for the next 12 months.

"We congratulate Belo Horizonte International Airport (CNF) for obtaining ACI's Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) program accreditation, which demonstrates its concern for the health and well-being of passengers, staff and the general public. Passenger confidence in air transportation will be crucial as our industry prepares to maintain operations. Belo Horizonte International Airport is leading the way in providing passengers and employees with high standards of health and hygiene recognized worldwide," commented Rafael Echevarne, director general of ACI-LAC.

"The airport has always adopted best practices for preventing coronavirus in order to guarantee the health and safety of every passenger and employee. The achievement of this certification is an important recognition during such a delicate moment of our country. This milestone was possible thanks to the commitment of the entire team and the support of Brazilian health agencies that have always supported us in maintaining a safe environment for everyone," said Kleber Meira, CEO da BH Airport.

The Airport Heath Accreditation Program evaluates issues such as cleaning and disinfection, physical separation, personnel protection, physical layout, communications and passenger facilities.

All areas and processes involving travelers are considered, including terminal entrances, check-in areas, security checkpoints, boarding gates, lounges, retail, food and beverage, gate equipment such as boarding bridges, escalators and elevators, border control areas and facilities (in cooperation with authorities), baggage claim area and disembarkation exit.

Across the world, more than 270 airports are already certified by the AHA Program, among them, besides Belo Horizonte International Airport, four others are in Brazil: GRU Airport - São Paulo International Airport, Brasilia International Airport, Rio de Janeiro International Airport - Galeão and Viracopos International Airport.
