Visitor Inflow to Georgia Up Through Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi Airports

Feb. 9—The number of international visitors traveling to Georgia through Tbilisi International Airport in January 2022 amounted to 66,741 people, which is 16 times more, compared to 4,131 visitors over the same period of 2021, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

However, the same figure decreased by 17.4 percent, compared to 80,760 people traveling to Georgia through Tbilisi Airport over 2020. The share of Tbilisi Airport by the visitor inflow to Georgia in January 2022 accounted for 37.7 percent.

Batumi International Airport received 10,128 visitors in January 2022, while over the same period of 2021 the airport recieved only 3 visitors. The same figure increased by 11.6 percent, compared to 9,075 visitors coming to Georgia through Batumi Airport over the same period of 2020. Batumi Airport accounted for 5.7 percent of the total visitor inflow to Georgia over January 2022.

The number of visitors traveling to Georgia through Kutaisi International Airport in January 2022 totaled 12,175 people — 145-times more, compared to 84 people over the same month of 2021. However, the same figure decreased by 42.6 percent, compared to January 2020, when 21,223 people visited Georgia through the airport. The share of Kutaisi Airport in the total inflow in January 2022 accounted for 6.9 percent.

The number of international visitors to Georgia in January 2022 amounted to 199,393 people, which is an increase of 471.2 percent, compared to 34,909 visitors over the same month of 2021.

However, the current figure decreased by 68.5 percent, compared to 633,201 visitors in January 2020, and by 62.3 percent, compared to 528,678 people over the same month of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic). — Follow the author on Twitter: @mariiiakhm
