Airfreight Operations Via Turkish Airport in Izmir Province for 1H2020 Revealed

Jul. 28--As many as 32,097 tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir province from January through June 2020, which is 43 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Turkey's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend. 

During the reporting period, 23,323 tons of cargo were handled by domestic flights, having shown a 33 percent drop year-on-year.

In 1H2020, 8,774 tons of cargo were transported through the mentioned airport by international flights, which is 60 percent less compared to 1H2019, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport served over 2.4 million passengers in the first half of this year, which is 58 percent less compared to the first half of 2019.

In the mentioned period, 2 million passengers were served on domestic flights, which is 56 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

Around 383,503 passengers were served on international flights in the reporting period, a decrease of 67 percent over the year.

The ministry noted that 19,089 flights were carried out at the mentioned airport, an annual slump of 51 percent.

During this period, 15,599 flights were carried out on domestic flights, which is 49 percent less compared to the same period of 2019.

International flights at the airport in Trabzon province slumped by 59 percent, amounting to 3,490 flights.

At the same time, air traffic in Turkey decreased by 51 percent and amounted to 350,881 flights.

In 1H2020, over 36.4 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.
