Reno-Tahoe International is accepting donations of gift cards and cash from the public to help government employees who are not being paid during the federal government shut down. A major donor has kicked off the program with an impressive donation.

Employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are working without paychecks while keeping our skies and borders safe. Gift cards and cash that can help them purchase basic necessities like food, diapers, medicine and more will be accepted at the Front Desk of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority offices during regular business hours starting today.

The public can park for free in the parking garage for 10 minutes to provide time to walk in and drop their donation off at the offices adjacent to the ski statue in the terminal between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

While recent food donations have been appreciated, the duration of the shutdown has made cash and gift cards a more useful contribution to help the employees and their families.
