Bradley International Airport Welcomes Breeze Airways

May 28, 2021

The Connecticut Airport Authority announced that Bradley International Airport has launched new, nonstop service to Charleston with Breeze Airways today. Bradley International Airport is one of the first airports in the U.S. to commence service with the newly founded low-cost carrier following their recent national launch.

“We are thrilled that Bradley International Airport is one of the launch airports for Breeze Airways,” said Connecticut Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz. “Their addition to Bradley will help strengthen our local economy by building tourism traffic and by increasing transportation options to the residents of Connecticut and beyond. We welcome Breeze Airways to our state and look forward to their partnership.”

"Now that the majority of Connecticut residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and are able to safely travel once again, it’s great to see Bradley International Airport expanding their travel opportunities,” said Connecticut Treasurer Shawn Wooden. “Residents of Connecticut as well as those visiting our state for business or leisure will now be able to get to and from Bradley Airport with direct service to a number of new cities. Expanding travel opportunities to and from the region plays a vital role in facilitating economic growth and will unlock potential for increased tourism and business opportunities, which will only strengthen our economic recovery."

Breeze Airways is headquartered in Salt Lake City. The airline was founded by David Neeleman and is his fifth airline start-up, after JetBlue, Brazil’s Azul, Canada’s WestJet, and Utah-based Morris Air, which was later purchased by Southwest Airlines.

“As a Connecticut resident for many years, I'm so thrilled for today to see Breeze landing at Hartford,” said Neeleman. “Our flights have been selling really well from Bradley too. I guess people really prefer low fares and nonstop flights over the high fares other charge for connecting through a hub. At this rate, we'll be adding a lot more destinations soon!"

“We are pleased to officially welcome Breeze Airways to Bradley International Airport,” said Connecticut Airport Authority Board Chair Thomas A. “Tony” Sheridan. “Following a challenging year for the aviation industry, their launch at Bradley Airport is a significant milestone and achievement for the Connecticut Airport Authority as we move towards recovery.”

“Breeze’s launch has been incredibly well-received across the country,” said Kevin A. Dillon, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Connecticut Airport Authority. “Today, at Bradley International Airport, we share in the national excitement and are thrilled to be a part of the airline’s inaugural network. Their low-cost model and already strong reputation make it a key addition and valuable new option for our passenger base.”

The service to Charleston, will operate on a single-class Embraer aircraft, with a two-by-two seat configuration, with the following schedule:

Four times weekly, on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays

BDL to CHS: Departure 3:00PM – Arrival 5:10PM

CHS to BDL: Departure 12:20PM – Arrival 2:20PM

In addition to nonstop service to Charleston, Breeze Airways will offer nonstop flights to Columbus, Norfolk and Pittsburgh, starting July 22. All four routes offered at Bradley Airport are new nonstop destinations.
