The contract has a total estimated value of $28 million with an initial one-year base period and four one-year renewal options.

DALLAS, TX – The U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has named King Aerospace, Inc., (KAI), prime contractor for supply chain and aircraft support services on behalf of NNSA’s Albuquerque, NM-based aircraft maintenance operations. The contract has a total estimated value of $28 million with an initial one-year base period and four one-year renewal options.

“We are honored by the Department of Energy’s selection of King Aerospace,” says Jarid King, president of King Aerospace Companies. “Our team stands ready and able to support the NNSA Service Center’s critical mission with high-quality services delivered on time and on budget, no excuses.”

Contracted services include aircraft maintenance support and logistics for NNSA’s fleet of Boeing 737-400 passenger/cargo (Combi) and DC-9 Combi aircraft. Work will be performed by a dedicated King Aerospace program team and is scheduled to begin May 16.

NNSA maintains and enhances the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile without nuclear explosive testing; works to reduce the global danger from weapons of mass destruction; provides the U.S. Navy with safe and effective nuclear propulsion; and responds to nuclear and radiological emergencies in the U.S. and abroad. NNSA’s fleet transports nuclear weapons components, nuclear limited-life components and federal-agent taskforces.

“As a prime contractor in the global government and defense market, King Aerospace understands the vital, time-sensitive nature of aircraft support services,” says Greg Mitchell, King Aerospace vice president of government services. “Our services have stood the test of time because we are loyal to our cornerstone principles and a culture based on servant leadership and proactive problem solving.”
