The new collaboration will spur the integration of ReFirm Labs’ IoT security solutions with the Wind River VxWorks real-time operating system for mission-critical systems in the aerospace and defense industries.

FULTON, Md. – July 10, 2019 – ReFirm Labs, a provider of the industry’s first proactive IoT and firmware security solutions, announced a new strategic technology collaboration with Wind River®, a leader in delivering software for critical infrastructure. The new collaboration will accelerate the development and integration of ReFirm Labs’ Centrifuge Platform® for IoT security with Wind River’s VxWorks®, the most widely-deployed real-time operating system (RTOS) used in commercial aircraft, space exploration and military operations.

“For nearly 40 years, Wind River has helped the most recognizable brands in the aerospace and defense industries power generation after generation of embedded devices,” said Peter Eacmen, chief technology officer at ReFirm Labs. “Our new technology collaboration allows us to provide analysis and insight about firmware security for products built on top of the Wind River VxWorks platform for critical infrastructure applications.”

ReFirm Labs’ Centrifuge Platform is the industry’s first proactive IoT and firmware security solution that allows companies to quickly analyze their firmware for hidden dangers and respond immediately to potential weak spots. Highly scalable, automated and cloud-based, Centrifuge Platform can identify and report abnormalities and vulnerabilities in firmware – a specific class of software that provides the low-level control for the hardware of an IoT device – in less than 30 minutes.Centrifuge Platform also provides a simple and reliable way for monitoring security across an entire system of deployed IoT devices without the need for agents or access to the network itself.

“Wind River’s collaboration with ReFirm Labs enables our customers to realize the full benefits offered by ReFirm Lab's Centrifuge Platform,” said Ray Petty, vice president of aerospace and defense markets at Wind River. “By teaming with an emerging leader in the IoT security space like ReFirm Labs, we’re bringing together decades of experience securing devices, and we’re excited to offer that kind of world-class expertise to our customers.”

More than 14 billion IoT devices projected to be in use in homes and businesses by 2020, and industrial applications in manufacturing, transportation and logistics, and utilities are projected to account for 50% of IoT spending by 2020. The combined IoT markets are expected to grow to about $520 billion in 2021, more than double the $235 billion spent in 2017.   For more information about ReFirm Labs’ Centrifuge Platform, visit https://www.refirmlabs.com/centrifuge-platform/.
