Boeing has had to suspend deliveries of its long-haul 787 Dreamliner over a fuselage issue, US regulators said on Thursday confirming a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Washington — US aviation giant Boeing has had to suspend deliveries of its long-haul 787 Dreamliner over a fuselage issue, US regulators said on Thursday confirming a report by the Wall Street Journal.

" Boeing temporarily halted deliveries of 787 Dreamliners after notifying the FAA that it is conducting additional analysis on a fuselage component," the US Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA) said in a statement.

"Deliveries will not resume until the FAA is satisfied that the issue has been addressed. The FAA is working with Boeing to determine any actions that might be required for recently delivered airplanes," the regulator continued.

US broadcaster CNBC cited a Boeing statement as saying that there were "no immediate safety of flight concern for the in-service fleet."

"We are communicating with our customers and will continue to follow the lead of the FAA. While near-term deliveries will be impacted, at this time we do not anticipate a change to our production and delivery outlook for the year," the statement continued.

Investors reacted nervously to the news and Boeing shares fell 3% in after-hours US trading.

The Dreamliner - one of Boeing's most important aircraft models - has repeatedly caused problems in recent years.

Due to various production defects, the aircraft was not allowed to be delivered to customers from May 2021 to August 2022.

When the FAA cleared the model for delivery to customers in August, it made it clear it would check each aircraft individually before certifying its airworthiness.
