AMR Corp., the parent of American Airlines and American Eagle Airlines, reports that consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile increased 11.6 percent in April compared with April 2011.

The improvement was driven by high load factors -- the percentage of seats occupied -- and a strong yield environment, executives said.

AMR's consolidated load factor of 82.9 percent in April was up by 2.5 points from the same month last year.

Consolidated passenger traffic was down 0.2 percent in April, to 11.2 billion revenue passenger miles, compared with a year earlier, on a 3.2 percent decrease in capacity.
