Congratulations to this year’s winners of the AMT 40 Under 40 Maintenance Professionals Awards! This year’s group of aviation professionals represents some of the best, brightest and hardest working young people of the industry.

This year’s class comes from all different backgrounds and works in varied segments of the industry. There are those who have been in the industry since they were old enough to hand their parents a wrench and those who fell into it or joined on a whim, only to become enamored with all aviation has to offer.

As you read, you’ll find winners who work in corporate aviation, own their own business, maintain rescue vehicles or repair hot air balloons – just to cite a few. You’ll find others who do a mixture of work or have seemingly bounced between all the segments of the industry.

Whatever the path is they’ve led, their standards have been high and work ethic strong, landing them here as some of the best in the world of aviation maintenance.

The average age of the 2022 class of AMT 40 Under 40 Maintenance Professionals is 32.9 and the average number years working in the industry is 11.9. Their homes range from Florida to Ohio, California to Tennessee, and Russia to the Philippines.

Some of their favorite aircraft include the MQ-9 Reaper, Beechcraft Bonanza, Boeing 747 and “the old Hueys.” Just under a third of this year’s winners are pilots, with many of the rest saying that one day they would like to be. And overwhelmingly, this year’s class said their first interest in aviation was sparked in their childhood or teenage years.
