The inspiration behind the Semco Sealant Removal, Mixing & Application Kit was the need for more portability and mobility for MRO technicians, said AbdulHalim Sayyed, global marketing manager, aerospace packaging, PPG.
“With our Semco Sealant Removal, Mixing & Application Kit, the mixing and dispensing of sealants, adhesives and potting compounds can be done anywhere, even when there is no air line or power source, because the guns are battery powered. This enables technicians to easily perform on-tarmac touch-ups to aircraft, even if they aren’t in a hangar, without cords getting in the way,” said Sayyed.
Inside the Semco Sealant Removal, Mixing & Application Kit, the 1250 battery powered gun was launched in 2018 and the 285B battery powered mixer was launched in 2020. The various tools were then brought together into one toolkit, the Semco Sealant Removal, Mixing & Application Kit, which launched in March 2023.
The full kit includes:
• 1250 battery-powered sealant dispensing gun
• Spare battery for 1250 sealant dispensing gun
• 6 oz. and 2.5 oz. retainers (clear and black)
• 285B mixer with battery
The kit also includes a custom-designed foam insert for convenient storage of each tool, helping to prevent FOD. Additional space is provided to store Semco scrapers and glow in the dark tools. The kit is watertight, crushproof and dustproof.
“The toolkit case itself is very durable – watertight, crushproof and dustproof. As for the tools inside, they will have the typical life span of battery powered tools,” said Sayyed.
Currently, a wide variety of customers are using the Semco Sealant Removal, Mixing & Application Kit, including OEMs, aftermarket and in defense, at Air Force bases, Sayyed added.
“Our customers have mentioned that they enjoy the ease of use of this product and having all the tools needed to do their touchups, rework, etc. in one convenient kit. The portability of the wheeled case itself also comes in handy for the end user,” Sayyed said.
