Electrical Safety Lockout Devices

May 31, 2012

A new electrical safety lockout device to protect aircraft maintenance personnel during maintenance procedures is being precented by Master Lock Company. The S2029 Aircraft Power Receptacle Lockout prevents insertion of an electrical power plug during aircraft servicing, protecting workers from potential electrical shock, major injury, or worse. A variety of Master Lock safety padlocks can be used with the  device, including dielectric padlocks with nonconductive, nonmagnetic, nonsparking shackles. The device works with six-prong power receptacles on higher voltage systems as well as the three-prong configurations on lower voltage systems. Attaching and securing the device to any one of the larger power receptacle prongs effectively locks out connection of the ground power plug. The device will be available in August.
