Windshield repair kits

PPG Industries’ aerospace transparencies group has created kits for repairing commercial aircraft windshield moisture seals, which are also called hump seals, during maintenance checks in the hangar or overnight on the line. Seven types of kits have been created for repairing windshield moisture seals on various commercial aircraft. The kits come in easy-to-carry boxes and contain chromate-free PR-1425CF windshield sealant and PR-1861 adhesion promoter. Also included is a hump seal forming tool that will ensure the repaired seal has the same shape as the original moisture seal. They are available through PPG’s global network of application support centers.  PPG plans to introduce kits for windshields on general-aviation aircraft later this year.
