Maintenance tracking

March 22, 2012

Avtrak has added system features exclusively for the helicopter industry to address low cycle fatigue concerns and the new OEM requirements associated with these issues. It developed these features based on demand from their existing customers, many of whom use helicopters for off-shore, law enforcement and medical operations. As a result of the low cycle fatigue issues discovered in recent years, helicopter manufacturers reacted by implementing new tracking requirements that involve complex formulas to account for flight cycles occurring without an engine shut-down. While the move was necessary to avoid unplanned engine and rotor failures, the new requirements and formulas were complex and made maintenance tracking difficult for helicopter operators. Avtrak's GlobalNet system now has the capability to calculate “alternate cycle tracking” data using customized flight log interfaces. The system incorporates formulas unique for each make and model of helicopter and are kept up-to-date through Avtrak's propriety algorithms and master data sheets used within the system. Avtrak released the new system to several key customers earlier this year and is now offering the new system to the entire helicopter market. For more information, visit www.avtrak.com.
